Sound Bath Meditation

What's Included
What is a floating sound bath?
A sound bath is a full immersion in sound. Unlike a concert or a music class, you are not here to listen actively. You are here to receive. You lie still, eyes closed, completely supported, while waves of carefully chosen sound wash over and through you, dissolving tension, quieting the mind and guiding the body into a state of rest.
Our sound bath evenings take this experience a step further by offering the option of a white aerial hammock, a soft, silk-like cocoon suspended gently from above that cradles your entire body in weightless comfort. As the hammock takes your weight, your muscles release in ways that a floor mat alone simply cannot replicate, creating the perfect physical conditions for the sound to do its deepest work. Floor mat options are always available for those who prefer to remain grounded.
The sounds you will hear are produced by crystal singing bowls, instruments crafted from quartz crystal that produce rich, resonant tones tuned to specific frequencies, alongside Koshi chimes, whose soft, elemental tones bring a quality of delicate, shimmering calm to the experience. Together, they create a living soundscape that evolves throughout the session, moving you gently through layers of relaxation, stillness and restoration.
These evening sessions are held once a month in an intimate group setting, making them both a deeply personal experience and a shared moment of collective rest.
What to expect
You will arrive to a softly lit, calm space prepared specifically for the evening. On arrival, you will be gently guided to either your aerial hammock or floor mat, with blankets, pillows and any adjustments made to ensure you are entirely comfortable before the session begins.
Once settled, you simply close your eyes and let the sound lead you.
The session typically lasts around 60 minutes. During this time, Amy will move through the space, playing crystal singing bowls and weaving in the soft, elemental tones of Koshi chimes to create a fluid, evolving soundscape. There is no structure to follow, no position to hold, nothing to do. Many guests find themselves drifting into a deeply restful, meditative state, somewhere between waking and sleep, where the mind quietens and the body is able to release tension.
Afterwards, there will be gentle time to return, to sit quietly, have a warm drink and ease back into the evening at your own pace. We ask that you hold the space gently for yourself and others as you leave.
The Benefits
The Research Behind Sound Healing
The benefits of sound bath meditation are supported by a growing body of research. A study by Goldsby et al. (2017), conducted at the University of California San Diego and published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine, found reductions in tension, anxiety, fatigue and depressed mood following a single 60-minute singing bowl meditation session. Increased spiritual wellbeing was also reported across all participants.
UCLA Health describes sound baths as a form of complementary therapy with emerging evidence for benefits including enhanced mood, reduced anxiety, pain relief and improved sleep.
As with all complementary therapies, these sessions are not offered as a claim to heal, treat or substitute any medical or clinical care. If you have any health conditions or concerns, please consult your GP or relevant healthcare provider before attending. Amy is happy to discuss any questions in advance.
